ADDISON, Texas, June 3, 2013 – Daseke Inc., a family of premier flatbed and specialized carriers, including Smokey Point Distributing and E.W. Wylie, has announced a transaction with Gaffney, S.C.-based J. Grady Randolph Inc. JGR’s addition to Daseke’s family of companies now makes the company one of the 20 largest flatbed and specialty carriers in North America.
“We are very pleased to begin a relationship with JGR,” said Don Daseke, president and CEO of Daseke Inc. “They’re strategically located in South Carolina, plus have locations in Georgia, Tennessee and Virginia, which gives us an impressive footprint across the Southeast to serve the flatbed and over-dimensional cargo segment.”
JGR will continue business as usual with the same employees in place. “We will not change the company’s management or brand, nor will we consolidate operating functions,” said Daseke. “Our philosophy has always been to work with the best and brightest. The team and employees at JGR certainly personify that goal. They have a long history in the industry, and with their customers. JGR takes pride in the Randolph name on the doors of their trucks. That won’t go away or change -- we believe each company should stand autonomously in order to best support their customers and team members.”
According to Mark Randolph, president and CEO of JGR, a third-generation family business, the agreement with Daseke Inc., gives the company added capital and resources to continue building the company. “We’ve grown the company over the years with excellent customer service, equipment and a strong team of drivers,” he said. “We’re excited as we enter into a new phase of our company, allowing us to tap into the resources and mentorship of Daseke and our new sister companies. Prior to completing our agreement, I talked with Smokey Point Distributing and E.W. Wylie to get a feel for the impact of becoming a Daseke company. There was nothing but upside. The shared vision and passion for the industry, coupled with how they’ve been able to grow with help from Daseke, convinced us this was a great move for our company and employees.”
