How many truck owners name their trucks? How many call them "Walter"?
The Edmonton Journal found one: a 1978 Kenworth 953 owned and operated by B&R Eckel’s Transport in Edmonton. That's Walter with fleet manager Darren Smith.
Walter was bought used and arrived at the company the name "Walter" engraved on the grill, probably the handiwork of the previous owner, Smith says.
Seems to be so. A few days after the article appeared, Jared Dubinsky of Pioneer Truck Lines told the newspaper that his dad and uncle named the truck Walter in honor of their father a few years after he died.
