Shorepower Truck Electrification Project, a project funded by the U.S. Department of Energy, administered by Cascade Sierra Solutions and carried out by CSS in partnership with Shorepower Technologies, offers a convenient map for locating the nearest participating truck stop. The Shorepower Truck Electrification Project (STEP) website also provides a more up-to-date truckstop locator.

Truck drivers can now drive the entire length of U.S. Interstate 5 between Seattle and San Diego and parallel State Route 99 in California and get restful sleep without idling the truck engine, running down batteries or firing up an APU. Finding Power at Truckstops Becoming Easier

Owner-operator Matt Purtee says as more truckstops recognize the importance of offering drivers the option to plug into the electric grid instead of idling their truck engines or running APUs or gensets, it’s become easier to find shore power. But he looks forward to the day when truckstops will offer shore power without him having to ask for it. Shorepower Technologies says more truckstop operators still need to hear from more fleets and operators like Matt Purtee about their expectations.

Shorepower Pedestal Installation in Lebec, Calif., Powers Up and Completes I-5 Corridor

With the installation of Shorepower Technologies power pedestals at a truckstop 70 miles northwest of Los Angeles, U.S. Interstate 5 becomes the first freight corridor in the nation where drivers can travel its entire length and get relief from high fuel bills and the noise and air pollution created by truck engines left running.

Nationwide Network of Electric Plug-in Power Pedestals Sees Six More Locations Power Up

Shorepower Technologies has expanded a growing network of electric plug-in power pedestals by installing power connections to more than 150 truck parking spaces at six truck stops in Iowa, New Mexico, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Wyoming.
