TRP Introduces CleanBlue Diesel Exhaust Fluid for 2010 SCR Engines

RENTON, Wash., March 15, 2010 — TRP(TM) Aftermarket Parts has introduced CleanBlue(TM) diesel exhaust fluid (DEF).

TRP CleanBlue can be used in all diesel powered vehicles that use selective catalytic reduction (SCR) technology to reduce nitrogen oxide (NOx) emission, a major air pollutant. CleanBlue is clear, non-toxic, non-polluting, non-hazardous, and non-flammable.

CleanBlue is available at TRP authorized retailers, including Kenworth and Peterbilt dealerships, and can be used in all SCR aftertreatment systems regardless of engine manufacturer. CleanBlue is available in 2 1/2-gallon jugs, 55 gallon drums and even large 275 gallon and 300 gallon totes.

“Strict adherence to TRP’s high quality standards is how CleanBlue meets certification by the American Petroleum Institute (API) and the International Organization for Standardization (ISO22241),” said Everett Seymoure, global manager for TRP.

“The SCR process works to clean NOx from the vehicle’s exhaust downstream of the engine. A small amount of DEF is routed from the vehicle’s DEF tank and injected as a fine mist into the hot exhaust stream. It then vaporizes and decomposes to form ammonia and carbon dioxide. The ammonia in conjunction with a special catalytic converter breaks down the NOx into harmless nitrogen and water vapor.”

“Depending upon the engine manufacturer, DEF consumption is expected to be approximately 1-3 percent of the diesel fuel consumed,” Seymoure said. “As an example, at a 2 percent consumption rate, for every 50 gallons of diesel fuel burned, you will need one gallon of DEF.”

“By specifying TRP CleanBlue for use in all SCR systems, truck, bus, and equipment operators, and maintainers, gain peace of mind,” he said.
